Delta Engineering- Team Lead
Delta Engineering consisted of 8 high school students from Lewisporte Collegiate, representing the school exceptionally at the 2016 MATE ROV Competition at the Marine Institute.
The team engineered and manufactured a very successful vehicle, "Delta-V", winning awards such as "Most Maneuverable Vehicle", "Best Marketing Display", and placing 3rd Place Overall.
Prior to co-founding this team with a friend, I had 5 years of experience designing and building underwater vehicles for the MATE ROV competition with another team from my Middle School.
As team lead I dedicated a large amount of time to ensuring the success of the team. I organized team meetings, provided company direction and motivation, created an award winning marketing display, as well as doing a large amount of design and manufacturing work.
A large percentage of Engineering work I done revolved around the mechanical design aspect of the ROV. A combination of 3D Printing and Laser cut acrylic was used to manufacture most of the vehicle. I designed and manufactured systems such as the tether strain relief, thruster mounts, electronics enclosure housing, fully adjustable watertight electric motor enclosure, just to name a few.

The team traveled to Holyrood, NL to test the vehicle in open water. The ROV was able to observe and inspect wild life and operate as designed to retrieve objects from the sea floor.
