Eastern Edge Robotics- Mechanical Team
Eastern Edge Robotics is a multi-disciplinary team focused on designing and building the most capable underwater vehicles that are equipped with the most innovative robotic technology in order to complete intricate tasks.
I joined the team in 2016, and have since worked on the Payload Team, and most recently as a member of the Mechanical Team.
The team competes annually in the Explorer International MATE ROV Competition. The competition is the highest level of achievement for custom built remotely operated vehicles (ROV). Eastern Edge Robotics has done consistently well at the competition over the past 10 years, placing in the top three several times.
The team will be travelling to Seattle in June to compete in the competition with the newly built 2018 vehicle, Flo. The team is finally in the procedure of rapid development to meet all necessary deadlines to compete in the competition.
Being a member of Eastern Edge Robotics has given me the opportunity to do a large amount of CNC work to prototype and manufacture the robot and it's payload. Most recently, I've been exploring cutting aluminum on our CNC mill.
I have also done a large amount of design for watertight assemblies such as electronics enclosures.
Aside from that, I have also conducted numerous simulations in order to validate enclosures and optimize wall thickness of structural members under dynamic loading conditions.
